Corporate Structuring & Banking
Set Up a UAE Company and Open a Corporate Bank Account
One coordinated process — from choosing the right jurisdiction to an active corporate bank account — led by a single advisor so nothing falls between company formation and banking.
Tell us about your business — we'll map out the full process
Setting up a company in Dubai and opening its corporate bank account are two separate processes handled by two different authorities — the Free Zone or DED/DET for the licence, and the bank for the account — but they are closely connected: the bank's requirements should shape decisions made during company formation, from the choice of business activity to the shareholder structure. OmniTrust AE coordinates both as a single process with one advisor.

How the Process Works
From Business Profile to an Active Bank Account
- 1
Business profile assessment
We review your business activity, ownership structure and expected banking needs together, from the outset.
- 2
Free Zone / Mainland selection
We choose the jurisdiction with both the licence requirements and the banking profile in mind.
- 3
Activity selection
We select the business activity code, since it directly affects how banks assess the account application later.
- 4
Company incorporation
We prepare and file the incorporation documents and obtain the trade licence.
- 5
Residence visa / Emirates ID, if required
Where relevant to the banking profile, we process the owner's residency visa and Emirates ID.
- 6
Banking profile assessment
We assess the shareholder profile, expected turnover and source of funds specifically for the banking application.
- 7
KYC file preparation
We prepare the business description, expected turnover, customer and supplier information and supporting contracts.
- 8
Bank selection
We shortlist suitable banks based on the completed profile.
- 9
Application submission
We submit the account application to the selected bank.
- 10
Compliance review
We support the client through the bank's independent KYC and compliance review.
- 11
Account activation
Once approved, we assist with setting up account access for the first transactions.
Free Zone vs Mainland
Free Zone companies register faster and cost less to set up (from AED 12,900, typically 3–4 business days); mainland companies cost more (from AED 24,000, typically 1 to 3 weeks) but can trade across the whole UAE. Neither structure guarantees an easier bank account approval — banks assess the business activity and profile, not the jurisdiction alone.
Which Company Type Is Better for Banking?
There is no universal answer. Some banks are more familiar with specific Free Zones; others give more weight to a physical mainland office and Ejari registration as a sign of substance. We match the jurisdiction choice to your specific banking goals during the initial consultation, rather than assuming one structure is always preferable.
Documents Required for Company Formation
- Passport copies of shareholders and, where applicable, managers
- Proof of the source of funds for the investment
- A description of the intended business activity
- For mainland companies — an office lease agreement (Ejari) at the licensing stage
Documents Required for Banking
- Trade licence and incorporation documents once issued
- Passport copies of shareholders and signatories
- A description of the business activity, expected turnover, and typical customers and suppliers
- Contracts, sample invoices or letters of intent, where available
- Personal bank statements for shareholders and signatories, typically covering several months
Expected Timeline
Company formation: 3–4 business days for most Free Zones (fully online), or 1 to 3 weeks for mainland. Corporate banking, once the licence is in hand: fast-track cases from approximately 5–6 business days, with standard applications commonly taking around 2–4 weeks, depending on the bank, business activity, shareholder profile and compliance review.
Banking Compliance
All banking approval remains subject to the bank's independent KYC and AML compliance review. No adviser, including OmniTrust AE, can guarantee a bank's final decision — our role is to prepare a complete, well-structured file and select suitable banks based on your profile.
Costs and What Is Included
Government fees for company formation start from AED 12,900 (Free Zone) or AED 24,000 (mainland). Bank fees and minimum balance requirements are set independently by each bank. Our professional fee for coordinating company formation and the banking application is quoted individually at the consultation, based on the complexity of the structure.
Frequently Asked Questions
Company Formation and Banking, Together
A bank account application requires the trade licence to already exist, so the two steps are sequential — but planning them together from the start (activity selection, shareholder structure) avoids issues that surface only at the banking stage.
Yes. Some business activities receive more scrutiny from banks than others due to regulatory risk categories — we factor this in when selecting the activity code during formation.
Company registration itself is a formal process with a predictable outcome once fees are paid and documents accepted. The bank account is different — approval is decided independently by the bank's compliance review, and no adviser can guarantee it.
